2008 OPEN HORSE SHOW SERIES

SHOW DATES: JUNE 21, JULY 26, AUGUST 16 & SEPTEMBER 6

Year end awards will be presented at the September show.

The attached class list announces our upcoming 4-H open horse shows. This series is our largest fundraiser of the year. All proceeds from the September show benefit the 4-H horse program directly. A percentage of the June, July and August shows also benefit the 4-H Club. Proceeds are used to enable 4-H’ers in the Rockin’ Riders 4-H Club to participate in programs at the district, state, regional, and national levels of 4-H competition.

Club members can receive scholarships for their participation and outstanding accomplishments. Throughout the years, Rockin’ Riders 4-H members have excelled at the district, state, regional, and national levels. Our leader coached the state 4-H Horse Bowl team in 2003 and in 2004 led them as they won the World Championship Team Award. In 2006 teams from our club placed in the top ten at the state level after winning at the district contest. Members of our teams also received high individual score awards in the Horse Bowl and Hippology contests. Other members placed in such competitions as demonstrations, creative writing and photography. Our club members were very competitive at the State 4-H Championship Horse Show in Raleigh and the 4-H Regional Championship Horse Show in Memphis. In addition to competitions, our members participate in various educational programs. All funds for these trips are the 4-H Club’s responsibility, so your contribution is great appreciated!

Our club sponsors charitable events such as the St. Jude Trail Ride to benefit St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In 2008, we are sponsoring therapeutic riding classes for the riders at Rolling Ridge Riding Center and other therapeutic rider centers. In order to help fund these projects and activities, we need support from our community.
